What is a Remote Online Notarization? Also referred to as “RON”.
The act of performing a notarization remotely utilising two-way audio-video technology is known as remote online notarization. It is the online equivalent of an in-person, paper-based notarization, with every step completed via the internet.
RONs, like traditional notarizations, begin with the online Notary verifying the signer's identification and assuring the signer understands and is willing to sign the document. The wet ink signature of the signer is replaced with an electronic signature, while the physical stamp and handwritten signature of the remote Notary are replaced with an electronic seal and digital certificate, respectively. Payment is processed at the conclusion of the transaction.
How does online notarization work?
In online notarizations, the signer appears in real-time before a distant Notary via audio-video technology. The Notary confirms the signer's identity using classic identity proving methods, plus two processes specific to distant online notarizations: knowledge-based authentication (KBA) and credential analysis.
The online Notary completes the notarization by attaching an electronic Notary seal and a digital certificate after verifying the signer's identification.
How Does a Remote Online Notarization Take Place?
Thats all. Your online notarization is complete.
